i am trying to take a clip, crop out a certain section (that is not 4:3 ratio), then use track motion to scale and position it (PIP).. i then want a soft edge around it.. I tried putting a border effect set to soft edge.. i've tried it for both the track and the clip. it seems that it only applies it to the sides of the image that were not cropped. That is.. if the edge of the image shown is what was the original edge of the image, it gets the soft edge.. if it is a new edge as the result of cropping, it gets a hard edge.

any suggestions?
