That sounds normal. I've seen this in every version (including VP 19) unless I've already had something farther down the timeline.

@NTO2care I agree with jetdv. That is normally how all versions of Vegas Pro behaves for me.

Jetdv and Steve_Rhoden, I have no reason to doubt what you're saying. I'm sure you have far more experience with Vegas Pro than I have. But, I can assure you that I can open any of my projects from VP19, and on each and every one, I can place the cursor anywhere on the timeline, including anywhere after the last clip. Thank you both for taking the time to respond.

And... on those projects you probably had stuff on the timeline after the current last event at some point in time. For a NEW project, it should behave as you're describing.

I just tested - had a project where the cursor would not go after the last event on the timeline. I moved that event to the left. Then I started placing the cursor in various places - the farthest right I could go was where the end of that event had been located.

@NTO2care The best way to see if there's anything past the last clip is to press Ctrl+End.

Thanks to jetdv and Jack S, I now am aware that there can be an invisible space (apparently the "ghost" remnant of clips no longer there) after the last clip on the timeline. Wow!

@NTO2care

It appears that the "extents" of a new Vegas project is (and likely always has been) ~2 minutes.

Adding media to the timeline changes the value. I haven't found a setting that would allow one to start with a different value, but I haven't looked for a long time. It hasn't been much of an issue for me since I throw everything I shot on the timeline and start removing things as I go.

I experienced the same concept when I worked with AutoCAD, a phenomenon I have long since forgotten.

Most of us don't get very far from the origin in the number system or very far from the beach for that matter.
