Cursor out of synch

Hello!
I am using Vegas 12, My cursor is misligned with the file. I can see the beginning of the wave file, when the cursor is over the beginning of the wave on the time liner there is no sound. The sound starts after the cursor moves a few seconds on the timeline.

On another audio video track, the audio is not aligned (out of synch) with the video, I used the synch feature to synch it again.

When I move the mouse on the project it makes a noise.

What can create this problem?

Please fill out your system specs in your user profile.

What Audio hardware are you using?

Are using using Microsoft Sound Mapper, Wave Classic Drivers, or ASIO drivers in Vegas?

Ok, but please fill out your system profile in your user account.

What driver model are you using? Does the problem happen if you use a different audio driver model?

What driver version for the echo do you have installed?

I had this problem awhile back. Turned out that under Audio Device preferences, Direct Sound Surround Mapper had been selected for some unknown reason. Changed it to Microsoft Sound Mapper and the problem disappeared. I have no idea why this should have an issue.
