Cusror Placement

Does anyone have better ideas for cursor control? Sometimes I want to go to the begining or end of clips on the timeline and I find that the Ctrl+Alt left arrow or right does not always work and this is the only way? Also when I add clips to the timeline the blank space after the clips gets shorter and shorter and I can not seem to move the timeline to show more space. Is this normal?

Yes, this is normal. It does seem rather odd though. It seems like we should be able to scroll the timeline so that the end of the last event is near the left edge of the screen and the rest of the screen is empty timeline. Alas, after a while this can't be done.

There are a couple of simple things you can do though. If you click the transport button that looks like a right pointing triangle with a verical line, the cursor will move to the end of the project. If you drag a clip here but can't get it at the end of the timeline because of lack of space, simply drop it as far to the right as you can and then you will be able to scroll farther and then move the clip into position. Better yet, after you have the cursor at the end of the project, double-click the clip in the explorer window and it will automatically be placed at the end. Either of these methods will extend the range that you may scroll to the end of the newly added clip.
