Custom Buttons : Scaling of thumbnail photo with large highlight

Malibu911 wrote on 4/23/2019, 12:46 PM

Hello guys and gals, I originally started making Dvds and Blurays in Adobe Encore and love the custom button integration Adobe can do across their family of programs. I'm having trouble with the custom buttons where I can't figure out how to change the thumbnail position to fit the entire frame inside the "frame" what I end up with is just a partial view of the video and it won't fit inside the photo frames I've created.

Is there a tool I'm missing to resize only the thumbnail to fit inside the mask/frame?

I don't know that there's a way to do that in DVD Architect.

If you Right Click on the thumbnail, it should have a CROP and Adjust option on the dropdown. See if that works.

That may not be available in all versions of DVDA. Unfortunately Malibu911 doesn't tell us which version they are using.

Thanks for the responses, the Crop and Adjust tools "works" just doesn't allow to just scale and move the entire frame where needed without cropping. At least from what I can figure out.

Oops! It's the current DVDA 7 (Build 100).

My apologies.

I am using version 5.2 and it does allow scaling without cropping. That might have changed in 7.

EricLNZ wrote on 4/24/2019, 10:23 PM

I'm also on 7 but suspect that DVDA Studio versions may not have had the facility. Unfortunately I've long uninstalled DVDAS so cannot check.

Also would like to see them add the option to tilt buttons as well as a Blu-ray pop up menu.

I can make it large or small as a whole but can't seem to figure out how to make the highlight larger than the thumbnail.

@Malibu911 Sorry but I don't understand your problem. From the images you've posted your thumb images appear to be fully occupying the frame. It's the style of your frame that is obscuring the edges? Could you please clarify your problem.

Neither can I. It appears the highlight can be cropped but not made larger.

Yes, my apologies for not being more clear. I have a mask that's creating the "distressed look" inside the photo frame but the highlight, which is the very outside border including the leaf, is not the same size as the 16:9 video thumbnail. The Cosette drawing should be in the center of the distressed mask, including the words (not present) "Les Misérables" above her head. I've used the crop tool to get her as close to "center" as I could but effectively it just zooms into the frame.

Hope this makes sense!

What I'd do is take a screenshot of the movie frame being used for the thumbnail. Then use that in an image editor to create a still image that has everything appear as I want it to. To change the thumb go to Button Properties, then Media, Thumbnail Properties, Thumbnail Media. There's a drop down box where you can replace and browse to your still image location. With the image you might need to shrink it down by adding extra space around it either as transparency or a plain background. You need to save as 32 bit png to preserve transparency. You probably know all that anyway.

Yeah I was hoping for something a little easier. When you have 41 chapters to do.. it can get very tedious.

I guess I don't understand. What are you using to create the Highlight? Can you post a screenshot with the highlight so I can see the issue?
