Custom highlight masking problem

I have followed the oft mentioned page 54 of the DVD Architect 2 New Features PDF regarding creating masks for highlighting buttons.
As a sinple example -- In Photoshop I Paint -say - an ellipse with %100 black (or other colors) on a transparent background and save it as a PNG.
In DVDA I insert an empty button as "image only", alligning it with the png mask I have brought in through the button properties . I have set the highlight style to custom with transparency mapping..
However, on preview I only get part of the ellipse I painted - kind of broken up like the window needs to be cleaned..
I have tried various options in the properties section - no luck
any ideas would be greatly appreciated fultro

Probably have to increase the size of your empty button. The dotted lines of the button (in design mode) should be around the elipse. Also make sure that if you have more than one empty button on the menu, none of the buttons are overlapping.

OK - great that seems to have done the trick - (the original instructions only mentioned that the empty button and the graphic highlight only needed to touch)
but I am curious what the function of the dotted line inside the sizing box is (in design mode)..
it seems that having to keep the dotted line outside the highlight graphic AND not touching any other buttons decreaces valuable real estate for odd (non-rectanglular) shapes
