Custom Transition speed for specific transitions

klever187 wrote on 4/10/2023, 12:49 PM

i've looked everywhere and can't figure out how to assign a custom transition speed for a specific transition I always use with BCC. I already know about going to "Cut to overlap" in options. That's good for my other general transitions (which i set to 10 frames). However, I want my BCC PUSH transition to be 5 frames when I drag and drop it in my timeline everytime. I've gone into it's settings but there is nothing to keep it at 5 frames everytime.

Any ideas?

Seems like you may not be using Vegas software.

That said, transitions in Vegas are very easy to manipulate. The length of the transition is directly proportional to the amount of overlap you have between two events. There's further customization within that, but hopefully this gets you off to a good start.

I know about dragging the transitions length once i've dragged it into the timeline, what i'm saying is I don't want to do that...I'd like to drag a SPECIFIC transition in with a custom length already in place to save time...

@klever187 Hi, no there isn't a transition length option beyond Cut to overlap which you already know,

Happy Otter or Excalibur allow more control of the transitions but someone else like @wwaag can tell you more,

Have you tried saving the Transition as a preset?

FayFen wrote on 4/14/2023, 4:40 AM

@Reyfox does it save duration? this is the main issue here.

@FayFen No. only changes made to the transition controls are saved,

When you make a video, if you come across a position that you want to add BCC Push, set an m marker.

When the project comes to the last stage, modify "Cut to overlap" to 5 frames, and then add BCC Push to the places marked.

Then change "Cut to overlap" back to 10 frames.

Does this workflow help?

This may not be what you are looking for, but in Vegas Pro you can set the length of a dissolve between two video events in Options/Editing (tab) as per the field arrowed on the R:

If the 'Automatically overlap multiple selected media when added" is checked on (arrowed on R), multiple events that you drag on to the timeline will automatically have the preset crossfade applied. That means that when you drag a BCC transition onto the crossfade, the length of the BCC transition will be of the same length.

I tried this already but Vegas doesn't store duration time.

When you make a video, if you come across a position that you want to add BCC Push, set an m marker.

When the project comes to the last stage, modify "Cut to overlap" to 5 frames, and then add BCC Push to the places marked.

Then change "Cut to overlap" back to 10 frames.

It would still be too slow for me 😁

did this prior and wasn't what i wasn't looking for either 😔
