Cut and save a clip

I've got a gopro that i need to cut and paste a clip of a driver that nearly took me out passing me illegally while on my motorcycle. I want to shrink it down from 3GB to just enough footage of the illegal act to make it easy to submit. Is there an easy way to just clip that section and "save" or do you have to render to actually save the footage?

In Vegas Pro you have to render to get an output video. Use Mainconcept Internet AVC 1080P render template to create an mp4 file with AVC video and AAC audio.

...and check mark the "Render loop region only', in the Render as dialog.. assuming the segment you want is selected.

Better to use for such a quick job without further editing the GoPro app that is designed for cutting and splitting. No rerendering and very fast. To use on smartphone, desktop or laptop.

Also the app Mp4Splitter of the free MP4Tools is a much easier app than Vegas.
