Cut out an image outline

Hi,

I tried searching old topics but not very successful..maybe I'm not using the right keywords.

1. On a still video image, how can I cut out a subject so I can paste it in another still image. I know I can do this in photoshop. Just wondering if Vegas can do it.

2. Same as above but with a moving image.
Example: Cut out the outline of a couple (in motion) and paste them into some clouds footage that I have.

Also anyone know where I can get more footage of clouds...you know, the one that looks like the Microsoft image on clouds...but only moving (blue sky with a few white clouds moving).

Thanks

with Vegas, your option is the cookie cutter but I'm sure it won't do what you want it to do. You're looking at rotoscoping which Vegas can't do at this time. You can create a mask around the couple in photoshop and import it, however if your couple is moving, this won't work without multiple masks and is very time consuming. Commotion is probably your best best for good roto work.

as for clouds, you could use the noise generator to create these. use multiple cloud layers and you can create some pretty realistic looking ones that shape over time.

This looks really good. Then, you can keyframe in movement.

Works great.

Thanks, I'll give that a try, but I'm no Picasso...

I'll also check out Commotion...
