Cutting and pasting clips

When I cut and paste a clip, for example, the other clips don't automatically move forward to make room. I have to manually move the other clips out of the way before I can move in another clip.

Is there some way to make it so that when I insert a clip, those that are occupying the space move forward automatically?

Look up Auto Ripple in the online help file.
Caution: a lot of us enable it ONLY when necessary and then disable it immediately afterward.

Although, for me, "only when absolutely necessary" is probably over 99% of the time.

Or you can press <CTRL>+F after the paste.

The ripple behaviour depends on what you have set in the little drop-down list next to the auto ripple icon in your toolbar (i.e. Affected tracks, All tracks etc.).
