To be honest the floating picture thing seems a bit overdone to me. This is my opinion of course. I think it is a cool effect, but the purpose of a video like this is to present the pictures and I find it difficult to focus on the pictures if they are continually moving. I wonder if 20 years from now as your daughter watches the video a simple and soft crossfade might not make it easier for her to remember the day and feel the mood again.
Don't get me wrong, I love the effect, but I think that 20 or so pictures done that way starts to become tedious. Nice pictures though and great choice of song (a little abrupt on the ending).
Thanks Tom. Of course you're right. But when I show this to a prospective "client", the WOW effect should go off the scale. I also plan to include a slide show with the completed video...
I also agree...after 2-3 pics, it got a little annoying. It's nice to see a little mixture and I would add in some simple stills, crossfades, zoom in pics, etc.
Very nicely done. Did you consider using a little horizontal wave to make them bend a bit as they float? (I find it really adds to the illusion as does the shadow). You might consider starting the photos in the upper left corner so that their float path doesn’t defy gravity as much but that depends of if you are going for realism or just a different feel.
Other things to try might be alternating the side they come in from to break things up a bit and remove some of the dead space between the time one picture disappears off the bottom and the next comes in the side. One thing I like to do is add the Border FX with a white border so it looks more like a photograph. (Although no one orders photographs with borders anymore but having the white frame instantly identifies it as a photograph somehow). Another idea is to have the last picture be of the bride and groom and have it hang in mid air as you fade out to make the ending a little different. But these are all personal preferences and that’s the fun and creativity of it all. There are so many ways to present the same material.
You did an excellent job with it. I’m glad my idea contributed to it. Thanks for sharing.
