David Tools Videowall

Hi all,

I used to work with this brilliant timesaver in older versions of Vegas, but now in cannot seem to get it to appear in the extensions. I copied the relevant .dll into C: program data - Vegas Pro - application extensions

Has anyone got it to work with v16?

Thanks!

This Tool was released before Magix tooks over from Sony. I can imagine that it needs some modification to work in VegasPro 16.

I you have Vegasaur installed, use it's Pan/Crop "Video Wall" feature instead.

David Tools website says that the latest version works in Vegas Pro 12 and guesses that it will work in Vegas Pro 13 - and that's 4.5 years ago.

Perhaps the extension's program coding looks for Sony Vegas Pro naming within VP whereas, of course, VP will now not have Sony within its program coding. If that is indeed the case, that will explain why it is not working in VP16.

I mention this because the Vegasaur extension had to be recoded in order to work in VP14 onwards when VP became the property of MAGIX (version 1 & 2 for various Sony VP releases, and version 3 for MAGIX VP releases).

"I mention this because the Vegasaur extension had to be recoded in order to work in VP14 onwards …"

Maybe a typo 'cause Vegasaur (and it's Video Wall feature) works fine in VP14, 15, 16.

Vegasaur (and it's Video Wall feature) works fine in VP14, 15, 16.

Very true … but isn't that because Vegasaur specifically recoded the extension for MAGIX VP (Vegasaur version 3) as I pointed out in the rest of the sentence:

when VP became the property of MAGIX (version 1 & 2 for various Sony VP releases, and version 3 for MAGIX VP releases).

Yes. Ah, I see what you meant: DaviTools would need to be recoded because Vegasaur (and other scripting based tools) once was recoded in order to work. Yes. No typo, I just misunderstood.

Dexcon wrote on 3/6/2019, 4:49 AM

That's exactly right. Perhaps I could have explained it better.

Cheers.
