I'm using it. It seems to really do a great job. I didn't do the mpeg2 encoding from within Complete, but built chapters, motion menus, built the image and burned onto my Philips DVD+RW drive. Lip sync is perfect...no problems at all.
I have tested the mpeg2 encoding in Complete and it looks pretty darn good to me. But for speediness, I just captured the master from mini-dv tape in mpeg2 ibp format in my RT2000 system, converted to DVD program stream from the RT2000. The import into Complete was pretty quick after that. It doesn't reencode but does have to demux (I think that's the correct term) and prepare the files for its use...didn't take long at all.
I used it on my first "make some money selling DVD's" project. It was a little 2 cam elementary school play doing "Pirates of Penzance". It was really well done with K thru 5th grade...not that anyone of you cares, but I was really impressed by the young'ens. And when I showed the DVD at their Cast and Crew Party last night, they were blown away by the DVD. I even got a few more orders on the spot. (32 vhs and 9 DVD's)
The complete project is 68 min. About 3.2 gig total disc space needed. Complete burns the disc in about 15 minutes total, so was happy about that. I used Memorex DVD+RW discs.
Incidentally, I had some sort of a little blip of some kind from my original capture. I called the DVDcre8 folks (who sold their product to Dazzle who renamed it DVD Complete) and they totally bent over backwards to help me...sent a fix to me in a matter of hours so I didn't have to recapture and encode. Anyway, I was really impressed with their tech support.
Phil, are you sure about that? :) I just bought a DVD Pioneer Burner DVR-A04, and the merchant gave my Sonic's DVD-it! Version 2.5.2 SE for just $40 more.
If you are referring to me saying "can't be beat for $99"...I guess you might be taking me too literally...perhaps I should say "I think it's a great program for $99"...anyway, I haven't used any Sonic software in a while. DVD-it came with the RT2000, but I had too many problems at that time with it..but that was a while ago. Does DVD-it SE do motion menus?
John...I don't think there is any problem there. Perhaps you could try the trial version of the program at the Dazzle web site.
I copied the following from the faq sheet from DVD Complete which pertains to your question:
Q: I can’t capture an AVI longer than about 20 minutes on my Windows 98 or ME system. What is wrong?
A: Windows 98se and ME are based on the FAT32 file system that has a 4GB file size limit. This translates into a 20 minute limit for capturing DV at DVD resolution and frame rate. Fresh installations of Windows 2000 / Windows XP systems do not have this limitation as they are based on the NTFS file system. However, if Windows 2000 or Windows XP were installed as an upgrade from 98se or ME, you may still be using the FAT32 file system with the 4GB file limit unless you chose to convert to NTFS. You must either convert your drive to the NTFS file system, or (recommended) purchase an additional hard drive for use as a multimedia drive and format it to the NTFS file system. Only convert FAT32 to NTFS if you are sure you know what you are doing. Windows 98se and ME do not support NTFS.
I am using Windows 98SE and have not had a problem with VV3 since it seamlessly handles multiple 4GB files. Are there any DVD auuthoring programs that will do this or am I forced to use NTFS?
I am considering purchasing DVD Complete. Can anyone tell me if their wedding templates are of any quality? OR perhaps send me a screen shot? I don't want to purchase a non refundable download only to find that the templates are cheesy.
It appears there is only one wedding template (as well as one romantic template). If one is enough, I can send you screen shots, but somehoe, I think you need more.
BTW, this program's flexibility is currently limited to just above Ulead's MovieFactory. If they make some changes in background editing and how buttons are handled, then they could have something better than Ulead's DVD Workshop. But for now, consider it a wizard/template-based authoring package...
Slr,
Can I customize the menu buttons on DVD Complete? (Ie make my own button in photoshop and import it in?)
Please email the screen shot(s) to goldenimagephotography@hotmail.com
