De-Interlacing

after creating a still image from a video file, I have been de-interlacing the image in photoshop to avoid the shimmering effect that sometimes occurs. Is there a way to de-interlace stills created from video directly in Vegas?

Yes. The easiest way is to use one of the scripts for saving a still such as this:
SnapshotToFile.js

The scripts automatically make the following changes:
Change the Preview mode to Best
Change the Preview mode to Full
Change the Project FieldOrder to Progressive Scan
Change the DeinterlaceMethod to Interpolate Fields

There are many scripts for saving images available.
