Deactivating Vegas Post 20 By Uninstalling It

MH7 wrote on 3/4/2024, 8:11 PM

Okay, so for my birthday I bought myself a new computer (please see my signature below for the specifications of this new PC if you want to know the details). I have a question that may have been answered before (and I apologise in advance if this is the case). I know you can technically use VEGAS Post 20 (a perpetual licensed version, not a 365 subscription) on at least two computers, but since I want to turn my old PC into a gaming system for my nephews, the old computer will be formatted. So, my question is as follows:

  • If I completely uninstall VEGAS Post 20 from my old computer with this be seen as a deactivation by the software, or will I have to go into my MAGIX account and deactivate the old PC in there?

Thanks in advance for any help, it’s greatly appreciated!

In VEGAS, go to Help - Deactivate the software on this PC.

Uninstalling Vegas Pro does not deactivate that version of Vegas Pro. While deactivation via your MAGIX account will work (but can only be used once per month), why not deactivate Vegas Pro by the deactivate option via the Help menu in Vegas Pro itself (no limitations on how often this can be done). @MH7 congrats on the new PC! How do you like it?

Thanks @Reyfox! I like it very much, thank you.

I installed Steam and managed to play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 @ 4K (ultra settings) at almost 60fps, vs that of my old system that could only manage around an average of 1080p (high settings) @ ~34fps.

And, I’ve gotta say, loading times are so incredibly faster with M.2 PCIe 4 SSDs vs SATA SSD. I didn’t know what I was missing.

I can honestly say that a AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D paired with an AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT is a good pairing.

I’m still in the process of backing up my files and moving VP 20 and other software across to the new PC. But I hope to have that done ASAP.

(Sorry moderators, I know we are supposed to only talk about VEGAS software on VEGAS forum. Nevertheless, I just wanted to share the above.)

Just a question re deactivating Vegas Post 20:

To deactivate VEGAS Post 20, do I need to just deactivate Vegas Pro or do I need to deactivate every software associated with Vegas Post 20?

As vegas POST only has one serial number, deactivating Vegas Pro will also deactivate Vegas Effects and Vegas Image. However, if there are any 3rd party 'extras' (e.g. NewBlueFX, BorisFX and so on), they will have their own serial numbers linked to those 3rd party companies so they will need to be deactivated separately as well.
