dealing with "Generated Media"

2 questions SVP.

1.How do I get the key frame time line cursor and the project time line cursor to snyc - pushing the sync botton on the key framing time line does nothing?

2. How do I make a generated media event longer on the time line? dragging the edge produces a tic mark at the old edge which causes any added key frames to repeat at that point ?? Tried changing the "new still image length" in the options/pref/editing tab = no help, tried changing the length in the generated media window (top line next to frame size) - no help.. ???

2. How do I make a generated media event longer on the time line?

From memory, as I don't have VMS with me right now, in the dialog box for the Generated Media, look near the top of the dialog, and you'll see a textbox of the clip Length. It should default according to your Preferences / Options (usually 5 seconds), but you can change it as long as you want.

For example, I often use the Generated Media Credit Roll. Obviously, a 5-seconds credit roll is really short. I typically want each contributor's name to be on screen about 8 seconds. 6 contributors x 8 seconds = 48 seconds. I key that into the length.

I found a good picture of it here:

"SVP" = "Sony Vegas Pro" ? Do you have Vegas Pro or Vegas Movie Studio (possibly Pro Pack)? If you have Vegas Pro you may want to ask these questions in the Vegas Pro forum as the answers here may be different and not match the software you're using.

The only version of Vegas that syncs the timeline cursor to the keyframe cursor in Generated Media is Vegas Pro 10. Earlier versions of Vegas Pro and all versions of Vegas Movie Studio lack this function.

I took SVP to mean S'il vous plaît. Doesn't the Match Event Length button do what is being asked?

Exactly, TOG!

Sorry -SVP as in RSVP - I meant to say "if you please" --
Thanks I will try the length change again as suggested.
Too bad on the cursor sync - I have had them actually sync ?? - maybe on a still photo but if you are stacking two events -say a moving tltle over a changing back ground you really need to be able to "sync" the 2 movements =- trial and error I guess . Guess. the "sync" button on the key frame time line was just left over from Vegas Pro ??

The sync works for everything except generated media.

Chienworks & otheres,
I was just about to ask that question as I found it did sync in Pan/crop key framing ?? Think I will ask Sony and see if I get an answer as to why only in some ...
Also found the tiny litte "match event length button" so guess I am as good as I am going to get ......
Thanks , K

That question has been asked near weekly for the past 10 years. The only answer we got from Sony was that it was too difficult to do reliably. Apparently they have figured it out now as it is a feature of Vegas Pro 10. Maybe it will show up in Vegas Studio 11.

I did get an answer from sony tech =

I spoke with our QA team and confirmed that this is a bug in the software. We don't have a timetable for when it will be fixed, but thank you for bringing it to our attention. Please stay tuned for any updates, etc, that may have a fix for this.
