Dealing with "takes"

If I have say 4 takes of a 16 bar solo and I wanted 8 bars from take 1 and 8 bars from take 3
how would I do this? If I size take 1 to show the first 8 bars when I change to take 3 the first 8
bars revert to take 3's first 8 bars. I think I would prefer to say have each subsequent take
appear vertical beneath the other that way I could trim the first 8 bars of take one and trim the
last 8 of take 3.I'm probaly missing something.Any suggestions?

Although it may not be the answer you're looking for, one
way of working could be drag copy the clip to an adjacent
track, so you still will be able to select a take in any of
the two and then cut the part of each that you don't want
to hear.

Another way can be right-click over the clip and select,
say, take 1, then right-click again and select show-in-trim
from the popup menu that appears. Then, select, say, take
3. In the trimmer, select the part of the take 1 that you
want and drag it over the corresponding part of the clip.

Put both takes on separate tracks and edit from there.

The easiest way to go is just placing the cursor in the
exact point where you want the change and press "S" (for
split). Then, select one of the two resulting events and
just press "T" repeatedly to get the take you want. Of
course, you can select the take you want to use in any of
the events.
