Dear Sonicfoundry, please read it.

Dear Sonicfoundry:

I'm a user of your beta version of Vegas Pro.
It is the COOLEST multitrack software I've never used.
So powerful and user friendly ...

Thank U! :)

But I still have some suggestion on it.

1. We need a "APPLY" function to offline apply some
EFX to
single or multi track. Then we can free our CPU to
add more
EFX later. I think it is a VERY IMPORTANT function.
(BTW: the TOOLS - MIX TO NEW TRACK is more like a
Final Mixdown function)

2. We need a function such as Cakewalk PA's "Combine "
to combine some wave files as a whole track.
I know it's a old habit but please think about
it. :)

3. How could I SYNC my cakewalk and Vegas in same
computer?
As I know, the cakewalk can't generat MTC code
autoly.
So I can't use software like HUBI's Loopback SYNC
them.
Could you please add MIDI CODE function in Vegas?
Or do you have any other resolvent?

4. I feel Vages is a little "hard to maintenance",
There is too many WAVEs, maybe you can let Vages
make a single project folder for each songs autoly
and
let it runs more intelligent? :)

Thanks for you made this GREAT software!!

Best wishes !!

You can have Vegas generate MIDI Time Code or MIDI Clock. Cakewalk will sync to either of these.

Thanks
Peter

I want to use CAKEWALK play MIDI and use VEGAS record every midi track as a
single audio track then mix them with vocal etc.
The SYNC problem is really trouble me! :(
I only have one computer but I have a V-24s midi interface with SMPTE
synchronizer.

What shall I do?
Could you please help me? (detailed, PLEASE.)

You need to install a software MIDI router. Our products ship with the Virtual
MIDI Router (VMR) which will do what you need. (I am checking to see if this is
included with the beta.)

Cakewalk can be slaved to MIDI Time Code or MIDI Clock. I believe Cakewalk
supplied a MIDI Router as well. You might check on thier web page or on the CD
that Cakewalk shipped on.

The procedure is as follows:

1. Configure Vegas to generate MIDI Time Code or MIDI Clock. This is done in
the Preferences |Sync page. If you are using the our VMR, then set the port for
either MTC or MIDI Clock to one of the VMR outputs.
2. Enable MTC or MIDI Clock from the options menu.
3. If you are using MIDI Clock, be sure the set the project tempo using the
Project Properties. MIDI Clock transmits tempo information so Cakewalk will
follow the correct tempo.
4. Set up Cakewalk to use the input port of the same name as you set up to
generate sync in Vegas.
5. Set Cakewalk to use MTC or MIDI Clock as its timer.
6. Start playback in Cakewalk. It will tell you that it is waiting for sync
7. Add and arm a track in Vegas. Make sure that the input port the track is
assigned to is the correct port that your MIDI devices will be outputing to.
8. Start Vegas record. Cakewalk will sync up and start playing back. Vegas will
record what ever appears on the input.

There are many details in setting up the record and getting Cakewalk to listen
to sync. Please refer to Cakewalks' users guide for details on its operation
and let us know if you have any problems with Vegas.

Thanks
Peter
