Not a crash, but install issue nevertheless.
Search for my name for the thread. In my case a config file wasn't created and thus FS didn't show up as a render option.

I got it working!

Problem was actually not Frameserver but the 9b problem with crashing when selecting avi for render type. I had installed the 9c update which was supposed to fix this but it did not fix the avi crash problem at least on my system.
So, I uninstalled 9 completely, then reinstalled it and now everything is working correctly.

Edit: Prior to the reinstall I copied all of the dlls in DebugMode/Frameserver folder into the /dfsc folder (in addition to the dfsnetclient and dfsnetserver files already there). as well. Don't know if this had any effect but it works now. Also make sure config file as Tom states above is present.
