DEFAULT TEXT levels

I'm a new vegas user who is having problems with the on-board text generator. Whenever I bring the "DEFAULT TEXT" media into the timeline the white and black levels are outside the 'legal limits' (I'm using the RGB 16-235 profile on the WFM). The blacks are reading at -7 and the whites at +117. This is causing me grief when I make an analog copy. Is this true, are the default levels 'illegal'? If so is there a way I can correct it and save the 'safe' version as the DEFAULT TEXT? Does this mean I have to adjust the levels for every title I create? (please say this ain't so...) David

You can save your own text generator presets that have what ever levels you want, and just drag out that preset in the future.

For you current text objects, you can put a Broadcast Levels filter on the events, or track, or even project level to bring the blacks and whites into legal ranges.

Thanks for your reply. I've looked through my Video FX folder and I don't see anything called >Broadcast Levels<. I've got >Broadcast Colours< but it doesn't have any setup or level controls. Am I missing something??

The Broadcast filter in version 3 is limited. It is much improved in version 4. You can still adjust using the levels FX filter in version 3, manually adjusting the five sliders.

I've got version 4.0 so I'll assume it's hiding somewhere in th >Broadcast Colours< FX.
