Defrag problem

Hi,

I use Win2k defrag to get all my files, ever since I install VF and start to use more space from the video, I can never completely defrag all my files. Some will still be left fragmented or the files never got to the 'top' position as in Win98 or Me styles. Is this OK for my video editing and CD burning process?

Appreciates your help, tq.

Hi
The files that are left are probably part of the page file, which will be in use as you defrag. Assuming that you are not getting any dropped frames, I wouldn't worry.

With 7200RPM drives and IDE100 interfaces, your drive can be so totally fragmented that it looks like a deck of shuffled swiss cheese and it will still be able to store/retrieve data faster than a DV stream. Defragging your drive is much more a waste of time than a help. My advice is not to worry about it at all.
