Deinterlacing below half PAL resolution.

Hi,

I am trying to make my deinterlaces better looking for DV material. Today I use the Best setting in the project properties (Full resolution render qulity) with the interpolate setting for deinterlace.

I often encode for web in resolutions below 384x288 (Full PAL=720x576) which means that every other line could be discarded.
Do I have to set the project setting to Previev Full (This disables field handling) for this to kick in properly.

The Best setting should work well if the project resolution is below half PAL without deinterlacing one might think, but this seems not to be the case for scenes with movement.
It gets even worse when cropping.

Any thoughts on this matter? What are the best settings for resolutions below half PAL?
