You may need to select the "ignore Event Grouping" button on the task bar. This will let you delete the audio without taking the video with it.

You can also mute the whole audio track using the mute button (one of the controls positioned on the left side of each audio track). The audio corresponding to one event can be muted by right clicking the audio part and choosing Switches – Mute.

Sometime I find groupings useful, so if you don't want to turn it off all the way (using "ignore clip groupings" use the U shortcut.
Click on the audio track you no longer want, hit U and delete away.

The G shortcut is another useful one for me-its the complete opposite.
Highlight two or however many clips you want to group together and hit G.

Be careful though, sometimes I forget to ungroup again, and I move a clip not knowing its attached to something else and all kinds of chaos on my timeline! Especially if you have some kind of ripple on....CNTR-Z CNTRL-Z! (That may be my favourite shortcut)

Can I add to this thread and ask if there is a way to restore deleted Audio?

For example:
1. I insert an event to the timeline which contains both video and audio.
2. Trim the clip, add effects, etc..
3. Then I ungroup and delete the audio track (think I don't need it).
4. Then decide that I would like the audio back...(too late now for 'undo')

I can't find a way to simply 'restore original audio track' other than going back the original file and redoing all the editing.

Select the video clip, right click and select 'open in trimmer' - that will open the video clip in the trimmer together with its associated audio track highlighted for the relevant region of the full clip.

Then you can select 'audio only' and drag it back onto the timeline in sync with the video clip.
