Some of that is covered in the pdf files in the Technical section of Cineform's pages. Full HD is a totally different game and seems to require major paralleling of drives for performance. Again $$$

I think, probably not. But I expect many more options for cameras to present themselves relatively soon. (I have no insight, this just seems to be the logical way to sell to us with less than big bucks to burn.)

If you can successfully capture and output DV, your system is capable of handling HDV as well. The Cineform codec is a nice addition to Vegas if you are doing HDV- capture to that codec and HDV playback performance improves significantly.

Full HD hardware will run you huge dollars. For instance HD monitor $35,000.00 to $70, 000.00, HD-8K Viper camera $100,000.00, spare 500 gig
removable hard drives for Viper? 3 teribyte hardrive SCSI raid Configuration capable of 120 megs per second. and Vegas--$499.00.
Stick with HDV as it looks almost the same and its affordable. Sometimes I exaggerate but in this case you will need about $400,000.00 to get going in full HD and remember there is HD, HD-2K, HD-4K, HD-8K, and HD-100K.
It is full of gray areas. Check the HD forum on the Cow.
