Hi. I've got a Dell Inspiron 9200 with a Philips CDD5253 DVD burner. The Sony DVD Architect 2.0b software won't recognize the drive in the device drop down.
I've tried changing the preferences for "Skip drive database, autodetect drive capabilities" but this does not help.
If the model number in the subject line is correct, you don't have a DVD burner. It's a CDRW / DVD-ROM drive. That means it can read and write CDs, but only read DVDs.
'Fraid not. The only external burner I've ever used was a CDRW drive connected, believe it or not, by parallel port. And I'm sure you don't want one of those.
I noticed that Dell does offer a DVD+/-RW drive for the Inspiron 9200. Would they maybe upgrade yours for just an arm rather charging you a leg as well?
