Determining render times other than by watching?

There are a couple active threads that involve testing to compare CPU vs. GPU render times. When doing these tests, is there a way to determine the rendering time, other than remaining near by the PC and making sure you are paying attention to the elapsed time counter when the rendering completes? Seems like there should be a way that doesn't require careful attention to the rendering progress.

I tried un-checking the box for closing the progress dialog when the rendering completes, thinking this would leave the dialog open with the final elapsed time showing. But the elapsed time changes to :01 (one second) when the render completes.

Off the top of my head, the Peachrock Veggie Toolkit gives you end of render flags....also investigate the latest Vegasaur and Timeline Tools editions for end of render tools.

You can look down in the left corner of the display for the time Vegas Pro took to complete a render. You have to remember not to do anything else first.

See this.

videoITguy, thanks, I checked Peachrock's website and Veggie Tools does have that function. For now I will pass on it though and save the $79 purchase price. I do have Vegasaur and Timeline tools so I'll look for something in them for cases where I forget to check the lower left corner like john dennis suggested. But as long as I remember to check before doing anything else, that solution works for me.

Thanks John, I had never noticed the elapsed time down in the corner.

Strange, in Vegas 3, 4, 6, 8 & 10 I always had the total time rendered if I unchecked the close box. It might have 0:01 left, but it's done and tells me the total time.

There's so many factors involved it just gives you a best estimate. My dad was rendering some stuff and it always said an hour left, but 45 minutes after it started it was done, it even said an hour left at minute 40.

VP 11 also leaves the window open, with the total render time displayed...

That's what I would expect to happen, but on my system (using VP11 64-bit build 683), it changes the elapsed time to :01 as soon as the render completes. Must be something weird going on in my system.

When I used 11 it always did that for me too. V9 leaves the total time taken OK.
