This used to never happen. Now my computer can't recognize my video camera. "No Device Recognized" message is at the bottom. The only device my computer recognizes is my logitech usb camera. I have no clue why this stopped working. Please help!
Give this a try . . . I'm presuming you're in Capture or PTT - yes? Well just try and see if your "Folder/Files Mangement" is what you expect. I've had this go wayward on me and just for a laugh I checked the File>Capture folder management to confirm VF was going to "Capture" to the correct folder. I've had whole folders become unchecked - senselessly missing their path and wandering off into the Blue Yonder - Don't know why it happens - Don't know why I got a message saying VF couldn't see my DV source - ie camera/device. Oh the other thing, why does this "error" message occur when it is something to do with where VF should put the "captured" footage - As far as I'm concerned it's a bit Cart Before the Horse - n'est pas?
If this aint a solution for you, apologies, it may be medicine for others - Hey Ho!
I am not so sure I understand what you mean. The Video Capture program recognizes only my usb Logitech videocam...I don't need that. I don't know how to add my Sony camera again.
Have you checked the status of your 1394 card under Device Manager? Is it recognized there? If not, you may have to uninstall and re-install the drivers. If the firewire device is recognized by the system (no yellow exclamation point), then I would try re-installing VF.
Try Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager - should be "IEEE1394 Bus Host Controller". If it's there, try uninstalling and then rebooting the system with the camera plugged in and switched on. The O/S should detect all the "new" hardware and set things up as required. If it isn't there I'd start by physicaly removing and replacing the board, if that doesn't work - panic. Or, if it's an option, try the board in a different pc.
