Diagonal Flickering Line When Using Color Grading?

Ken-Theriot wrote on 5/25/2023, 11:24 AM

I am trying to apply some color grading in VP 20. but when I try, a flickering diagonal line with flashing red and blue pixels (it looks like) appears from top left to bottom right of the screen off and on as the video runs. I thought it might only be there when editing, so I rendered a small section. But it also happens in render. How can I fix this. It makes color grading impossible to use. Thanks.

If you have Intel Graphics, upgrade your drivers.

You can also temporarily turn off "GPU Acceleration of Video Processing" in Preferences->Video.

Tried that. No joy.

You'll need to provide more details.

What build of VEGAS 20?

What version and build of windows?

What GPU, and driver version?

Does this happen on all media, or just some?

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

Vegs 20 build 403
Windows 11, version 22H2, OS Build 22621.1778
Intel UHD 630, Driver Version: 31.0.101/2121

I tried testing again after updating GPU driver, and though the line was still there, I can no longer get the Color Grading panel to make any changes to the video at all. Sigh. I removed the CGP from the FX chain on the video item. And the line went away. But since I can no longer apply CGP to the video for some reason, I don't know if putting new color grading on will result in the line again.

So ended up with a second problem - can't apply any color grading.

[UPDATE] I removed all video clips from the track and added them back on and now CGP works. Still getting flickers of the colored pixels though.

@Ken-Theriot That is being derived from a graphics card / display issue, conflicting with Vegas CGP.

Ken-Theriot wrote on 5/26/2023, 11:52 AM

So anyone with an Intel UHD 630 graphics card can't use Vegas Pro 20 for color grading? This seems unbelievable.

Doubtful, as many other users here use that GPU in their systems.

OK I finally just closed the project and started a new one after I updated the driver. I imported the video clips and this time no line! I guess it was a vestige of the original project - some sort of caching or something. Anyway though, I think it was the updating of the driver that did it. Thanks ofr the tip!

Well, good you got that issue sorted.
