Difference Download v Boxed

I was wondering if there is a difference to what you get when purchasing either the download or boxed versions. To clarify this is what is listed for Platinum Pro Pack

Movie Studio Pro Pack (Packaged)
Includes application DVD and printed Quick Start manuals. Application DVD contains Vegas Movie Studio 9.0 Platinum software, DVD Architect Studio 4.5 software, Sound Forge Audio Studio 9, NewBlue MSPP 3D transitions and effects, 1001 Sound Effects, and 44 DVD themes.

Movie Studio Pro Pack (Download)
Includes download versions of Vegas Movie Studio 9.0 Platinum software, DVD Architect Studio 4.5 software with DVD themes, Sound Forge Audio Studio 9 software, NewBlue MSPP 3D transitions and effects, and Quick Start manuals in PDF format.

The download doesn't list the 1001 sound effects.
Thanks for any assistance.

Well, one version crashes when rendering HD video, and the other version crashes when rendering HD video.

Seriously. VMS has problems that Sony refuses to address... avoid this software at all costs.

Thanks for the reply.

I actually don't have a HD camcorder at present but am considering. Have Movie Studio 9 which has been great so far. Just liked the extras in the Platinum Pro Pack but if it has issues with HD I'll pass on it at the moment and maybe wait for v10 or look at something else at that time..

The differences are listed rather explicitly. The software you get is absolutely identical. The only difference is in some of the included extras which are considered too large to download. You can get the extras for free if you pay for shipping and handling for the disc, which usually amounts to about $10 if you live in North America. Personally, i'd say the 1001 sound effects isn't worth it since you can usually find stuff as good for free elsewhere.

And despite Locust's comment, many many people are using Vegas Movie Studio with HD quite well. There are a few folks having problems, but those are the ones you hear complaints from. You never see complaints from the people who use it successfully.

any rumors on dates for v10?

Thanks Chienworks that makes it a lot clearer. I'll stick with my current version which I quite like and keep an eye out for the next version of Movie Studio.

kraz, based on recent years release announcements, we should see an announcement for v10 very soon. Sometime this month or early next.

thanks - hoping for that ....

Wonder if I am the only person to "downgrade"
I did not go with Vegas Pro 9.0 ..
I think I am going to stick with (Pro) 7.0
and try Studio 10 for ACVHD and newer feature stuff ..
