difficulty opening tracks in protools

i'm trying to send a protools user some 2-track renders i did in vegas to add some parts - i sent him stereo 16bit/44.1khz .wav files just as a basic backing track to play to but he said he protools wouldn't read them. he had to open them in adaptec jam and convert them to 24 bit/44.1 mono files so protools could read them.

i know he generally records at 24 bit /44.1khz - can protools not combine different bitrates? any PT users or vegas/pt swappers have any input?

Make sure you're using the Microsoft .wav format. There is another .wav format that you can accidentally select if you're not paying attention. ProTools should be able to open a Microsoft .wav file. Make sure that the ProTools session is 24bit/44.1khz and you should be good.

I export from VEGAS into ProTools using the Microsoft .wav and it works with no problems.
