digital juice toolkits

I just purchased multipurose toolkit II. There are some animated overlays I would like to use. If I drag it to the top video track and place a clip on a lower track, I cannot get the clip to show through. I tried rendering it in Juicer using the setting for qt movie with alpha without any luck.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

Galen

You need to right click the track with the DJ thingy in it and change the video properties alpha channel from None to.... ah,try em all and see which ones works best.

I suspect that in the clip properties, you need to select the alpha mode (probably premultiplied)

I use straight with my DJ stuff and Vegas 7 and it works great.

Also, if anyone is interested, DJ is retiring the Editors Toolkits line in it's current format at the end of July and is selling them deeply discounted right now - Buy two for $99 each and get one free - These were going for $300 a pop not too long ago.

I have eight of them and love them - Get 'em while you can!

Thanks for your help. It was the premultiplied switch.

I also use "Straight" for my Alpha Mode.

I have them all except for the Sports one and Wedding one. I love them.
I hope they're being "retired" in lieu of getting the same stuff in HD.

mjroddy,

Ditto. The "Straight" setting always (so far) works best to activate the alpha.

DJ should be coming out with their graphical fonts (whatever they call'em) pretty soon as well...hopefully they get Juicer 3 working properly first.

The Juicer has been upgraded recently. Haven't tried it myself as yet but had no problem with the old build.

Nope.

How is the Editor's Toolkit different from their transitions kits that also have lower-thirds?

According to Dave Hebel (owner of DJ), the Editors Toolkits format is being retooled. The new ones will have less overall "sets" but they will have theme specific content - so a new toolkit will have backgrounds, lower thirds, overlays, masks, wipes, motion design elements, etc... like the old ones but more of them - It will also have additional stuff (I think I remember hearing things like sound effects and other audio stuff but don't hold me to it.). They will also be coming out with more, and more frequently.

As I said, the site claims they will not be sold after July 31, 2007 (but I expect they will come out every now and again for some leftover specials). The deal is a good one as these used to sell for several hundred each and the current price as $199 per, so three for $198 is very good plus they are really chock full of great stuff (especially ETK's 1 & 2). The wedding ones (3 & 7) are also great and very useful.
