Hi all, I've just ordered VMS +DVD, and I've been using the trial version for about a week. Can't wait for the full blown version to arrive. In any event, last night I tried a feature supported by my Sony DCR-HC40 cam (Digital Pass-Through). This feature apparently allows you to hook up an analog device to the HC40 cam, and fire wire to the PC, and stream analog to the HC40 cam, which converts it to digital within the HC40 cam, then to the PC for capture. In my case I hooked up a Sony TRV-21 8m cam (analog) to the HC40, fire wire to Toshobia laptop (XP Home). When I open VMS and select capture in the Media tab a capture window opens (I think Express), and when I start and play the analog cam, for a brief moment, I can see video and audio in the preview window, then it goes blue and states that no device is connected and there does not appear to be any way to start a capture process. Has anyone been sucessful in trying something like this and offer some advice. It would be nice to be able to use this feature rather than recording on to the MiniDV tape, then capture again to the PC. I have a couple 8m tapes I want to convert for edition on the PC. Could it be the trial version of VMS does not permit this function?
