Directorx8.0a or digital update for directorx 8.0

I just installed vegas 2.0 Should I update to Directorx or just wait and see if it works ok? My video capture worked fine with video factory and was a later version than what I got with vegas. I have windows Me.

Be careful. I installed DX8.0a to ME and my computer thereafter refused to boot beyond the ME screen.If you dont know how to back up your harddrive you may be looking at a complete re-install.Luckily I had my C: drive image Ghosted, so was able to reinstall the unmodified version w/o problems. Tried installing DX8.0a a second time and it froze again. I've found ME to be problematic and buggy, so I'm returning to 98SE.

There is a known issue with Norton and windows ME. In the Windows Folder go to the (inf) folder and click the header of file size and you might see a bunch of 0Kb files in there Mine had about 16000 of them. You have to delete these files then Direct X 8.0a will install just fine. And so will other programs and drivers. If you want to see for yourself go to Microsoft E-Mail support and tell them your problem of Direct X freezing up on install and Not Responding.
