Disable Youtube Post Video Recommendations

I know there is a method to "disable" post video playback "recommended videos" when using the sharing / embed options in YouTube. But does anyone know how to disable the same functionality as a content owner? There used to be an option within the YouTube control panel(s), but it doesn't appear to be there anymore.

My clients don't want competitors products popping up as "recommended videos" at the playback conclusion of their video(s) nor do they want to see the "T&A" type of thumbnails that can be embarrassing.

use vimeo ;-)

gave up using youtube years ago - not only for their bad encoding (might have improved by now?) - but for the exact reasons you've stated.

as an aside, my clients think having their videos on vimeo is somehow more 'sophisticated' than on youtube ;-)

Yep. I know what you mean about the "pedestrian" nature of YouTube. But, since it is a Google service, you can't beat its SEO and access.

The clients actually do use Vimeo for some of their content. But, they currently have 77 videos on YouTube ranging from 2 minutes to almost 2 hours (webinars). So, for the time being they would rather stay there.

We do have options: hosting the shorter videos (60 of 77 videos) on their own hosting space; using a video hosting vendor (JW Player Platform); or going with Vimeo for everything.

Hopefully someone will offer up with a suggestion for YouTube but after quite a bit of research it appears that Google / YouTube no longer allows a content creator to manage post playback "recommended videos"...

You can try flooding all your clients videos with a like tag or two related somehow to the client but so unique that no other video would have one like it. The suggested videos are based on the titles, description, and tags. It would be worth a try. I always put my name in my tags and find my videos show up more often in the related videos.

Good luck

Put at least 12 videos created by your clients in a playlist and use the embedded code for the playlist instead of the code for the video. With the desired video as the top video, the code will show the first video and the rest of the playlist will show up as the recommended videos at the end. It doesn't eliminate the matrix of videos, but only the videos your client has in the playlist will show up at the end of the video.
