Disappearing Fades

My editing rig is NOT connected to internet .. & never have had really any probs with vegas.. so i tend not to keep up with updates (aint broke don't fix it mentality)

Currently.. I am using Vegas 5.0b (build 160)

One thing that i have noticed.. is some times.. audio fades (between two clips) can some times disappear?

I know i had i had a cross fade in on a audio track.. . but all of a sudden.. when i go back to watch the whole segment... i notice i bad audio transition.. i zoom in on the timeline.. and the audio events are flush against each other (no cross fade)...

I do a lot of 'ungrouping' events.. so the audio starts a few moments before video.. then, turning it back on and moving it into position.. this is where the problem seems to show up.

If i go back into the time line.. and click on the 'vertical' transition between the audio track and move it .0001 inch left or right.. bam.. the fade reappears.....

I can only think - nah HOPE - this was a bug that has been fixed in one of the updates??

Any1 experience this before??

Yes, i know i should update.. but i am just SO paranoid about updating/changing ANYTHING .. while i am in the middle of a project..

Anyone know if the current versions/builds of 5.0 will fix this??

thanks!

are you using Ultimate S? i had the same problem a couple of days ago and figured out that when i change project from 4:3 to widescreen all fades dissapear.

Just a standard 4:3 DV project.. Never changed any thing major (ie project settings)

To explain where i detect the problems as simple as i can.

I have to clips (Grouped Audio/Video) on time line.. both clips on the same track..

I turn off 'keep with group' button.. trim the audio portion of the clip on the left back a bit.. Then i trim the Video portion of the clip on the right back a bit.

I then turn the 'keep with group' button back on, and slide them together like a puzzle - only the audio portion over laps a bit so it xfades.. the video portion lines up exactly for a straight transition

Its so simple! just very hard to explain! visually...

Clip 1 . Clip 2
________            __________
~~~~~      ~~~~~~~~~~
Merged together than
_______ ________
~~~~XX~~~~~~~~~

Where ---- represents Video ,
~~~~~ Audio and xxx shows Cross Fade
I do this a lot when i want audio from next clip to start
before Video starts
Haven't been able to figure out when this happens.. I don't change anything.. just zoom in and out on time line... then all of a sudden i notice my timeline looks like this
______ _______
~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~

The xfade between the audio.. just dissappears

Think what i am doing is a pretty standard video editing technique.. sure some one else should have experienced this?

thanks!
