Dissolve- audio problem -one side no handles

I am having a tough time dealing with a dissolve. The first video has music (wedding) that I have tapered off at the end by adding points on the waveform and rubber banding them down. The second clip has no handles and when I overlap a short dissolve it brings up the music from the first clip because that is now transitioning its audio with the second clip. The other issue is with no handles I lose the first word or two on the second clip (it's a wedding so that isn't good).
Any suggestions how to deal with this situation?

If you have no handles on the second clip, then you can't do a dissolve or fade to it. Leave the fade out on your music on one track, and place the second scene audio on the next track with a cut. (or a 2 or 4 frame fade if allowed)

Thanks. Can I add use different dissolve curves for the audio and video? Use a right to left curve on the audio so as not to lose the first words of the second clip. Then dissolve the video overlapping the first video that has handles over the second clip that doesn't. This way I get a video dissolve that is needed.

Yes. you might have to ungroup the audio and video.
