Distributing DVDs

I'll not get all the editing done to give to my wife's family & friends before we leave next week so I am wondering the best way to get the DVD's to them in a few weeks time.

Physically by post is not the best option as we've had a fair amount just not arriving within a reasonable time, if at all.

I was thinking of making an iSO of the disc image (not sure if I've got the terms correct here) putting it into winrar and uploading it, password-protected, to, say, Rapidshare.

My question is, how do I go about making an iso file from the resultant files after rendering to file from DVDA?

Or is there a better way?

Cheers.

In DVDA just burn the DVD using the Iso Writer instead of your DVD drive. QED.

Ooops, it's been so long since I've used DVDA that I'd completely forgotten that option.

Thanks for that.

if you're going online why waste the time with a DVD & not use a WMV?

If it were me I'd mail then. I think a paper DVD sleeve+DVD is ~90 cents anywhere in the US. I've done them quite a bit and people like it, and it saves me $$ from sending priority or driving.

In Ukraine not many of my wife's family/friends have PCs but they all seem to have DVD players. So If I post an iso online for her brother who has a PC he can burn the DVDs for those who need them.

For others he can download the mts file which will contain a 1280x720 50p file.

Thinking about it, would quality be reduced much if I were to render to wmv 5 Mbps HD 720-25p Video? Currently 13 minute mts file at 1280x720 50 fps is 2.7GB so perhaps I need render to a smaller file size (mainly to reduce my upload time - I only get around 800Kbps back in the UK_

Whoa there. DVDs are compliant mpeg-2 SD, only. Whatever you do, render from the appropriate Vegas DVD Architect video and audio templates (PAL?) before preparing an image or whatever in Architect.

If you also want small HD files for computer playback, I highly recommend Handbrake mp4.

The Vegas->Handbrake tutorial is here:

Ok. Think I slightly misled you with my previous post.

Yes, I've rendered from Vegas to mpeg2 720x576 25fps PAL then made an iso in DVDA.

For those with PCs and monitors that can handle 1280x720 (probably most of them) I wanted to maintain as much quality as possible for their pleasure.

OK, now I understand. Check out the tutorial if you haven't done so already. It's the best we've found that maintains good quality + compression at 720p.

Just looked at it.

Still a bit of a learning curve but very informative.

Thanks for all the advice.

Cheers.
