Does anyone know how to import Div-X AVI's into DVD Arch? When I drag clips into a compilation, the audio comes in fine but the video is just black. Any suggestions or plugins, or am I just going to have to re-render them?
If these are video snippets you have created your self, you should not render to DivX before importing into DVDA since DivX is not a supported DVD format. MPEG-2 would be the right choice.
In most cases when you have DivX it is because the video is from somewhere else however, which means you need to import these and have DVDA convert them to MPEG-2. In that case you need to install the DivX codec from divx.com to import them into DVDA. Note that the end result is going to be fairly bad since DivX is very highly compressed and when DVDA recompresses it to MPEG-2 the result will be pretty bad in my experience.
Thanks for the advice, but how do I get DVDA to convert the files? I already have the Div-x codec, that is how I rendered them.
I rendered the files with Div-X myself because it saves so much space and they were originally intended for internet use. I can put HD content online and it will load in seconds and not minutes. Im really not too worried about quality loss with the conversion - DVD uses about a third of the pixels of even HDV and a fifth of full HD. Too bad everyone doesnt have BRD players yet.
Honestly, you really shouldn't use DivX, though I am surprised that DVDA doesn't accept the files, can you open them in Vegas? There is one more reason to not use DivX for DVDA, the MPEG-2 encoding from DivX is monstrously slow in my experience.
