DJ Swipes with Vegas...techniques?

I just bought all 10 volumes of Swipes from Digital Juice.

It looks like the best way to use them is, make the main video tracks meet right under the point of 100% opacity of the swipe in question, swipe on a video track above the main video, fade audio as required.

Is there a better technique than this?

I know enough that I can always learn something from someone.

Thanks!

Hi Kent -

That is exactly what I do - I usually don't use the sound effects they come with and also prefer the faster moving Swipes over the slower ones - Play around, you'll find your favorites and probably just stick to those (I use about 20 or so on a regular basis, with others on an as needed but related to the content basis).

You can also position the frame to the meeting of the two video clips and then slide the swipe back and forth until you find the place you think looks best for hiding the cut.

Something I sometimes forget is that you can take the longer transition Swipes and speed them up.
I often take the 2+ second transitions (I actually didn't buy the Swipes, but I use the EKTs) and shorten their length (speed them up) by holding the CTRL key down and shortening the clip to taste.
