Do you get smooth DV playback in VV?

I'm using Vegas Video for sound effects editing. I
captured video of the film using a Canopus DV Raptor.
Unfortunately, this isn't an OHCI board so I don't get
playback on the monitor. This doesn't bother me, but what
does bother me is that Vegas doesn't play back the DV
stream smoothly (I usually get about 15-20 fps out of the
29.97). So the question is, if I get an OHCI board, will I
be able to play back the DV stream at 29.97 or not?

I have a PIII 500, 256 MB RAM, and my video drive is a
Fasttrack66 Raid with 2 7200RPM IDE drives. My video
capture card is the Raptor, and my video card is a Matrox
G400 Max dual head.

I'm curious about those who use a OHCI card and Vegas
Video. Do you get smooth playback of the DV stream? If
so, how fast is your system? Any responses would be
greatly appreciated!

I don't even know what an OHCI board is, much less if I
have one or not. One suggestion I might have (that you
probably tried already) is the Quality control. Make sure
that in your preview window, you have the Quality set to
Draft or Preview. Good and/or Best Quality tend to run
worse.

A: yes.

(You won't be able to use the Canopus codec and get 29.97
previews, but you can still render to it).
