Docking Area

MikeTe wrote on 2/23/2018, 12:22 PM

I'm having a problem keeping the Tabs of the Docking Area in the order I want. I set them in the order I want and when I quit Vegas Pro 15. When I open Vegas Pro 15 again the Tabs are in a different order. I even set them in the order I want and saved my layout under Windows Layouts. The order changes every time I open Vegas. How do I get my layout to load when I open Vegas without re-loading my saved layout?

Same issue here. Don't know to prevent this.

I have noticed this happening, and hence created my own window layout. Recall this, Bob's your uncle ;-)

my current Win10/64 system (latest drivers, water cooled) :

Intel Coffee Lake i5 Hexacore (unlocked, but not overclocked) 4.0 GHz on Z370 chipset board,

32GB (4x8GB Corsair Dual Channel DDR4-2133) XMP-3000 RAM,

Intel 600series 512GB M.2 SSD system drive running Win10/64 home automatic driver updates,

Crucial BX500 1TB EDIT 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch SSD

2x 4TB 7200RPM NAS HGST data drive,

Intel HD630 iGPU - currently disabled in Bios,

nVidia GTX1060 6GB, always on latest [creator] drivers. nVidia HW acceleration enabled.

main screen 4K/50p 1ms scaled @175%, second screen 1920x1080/50p 1ms.

I thought it was the apostrophe; turns out I'm wrong. It's still happening.

@MikeTe: Was this true in previous versions of VP?

Previous versions, and I have had a few, always opened the way I left it.

@MikeTe : Thanks. I’ve was asking ‘cos I’ve noticed that with use of the External Control Setting as being active, and although I’ve had it switched OFF, it reappears as being switched ON when I reload my own W.Layout. I’ve been collecting a mental list of those settings that reappear and, with your tabs, then those that don’t. I think we should all note this activity to assist MAGIX. Maybe this is part of the newer GUI feature set?

Your post has made me sit-up. Hmmm...

What's really strange is it changes every time I open Vegas. I mean I'm not picky about the positions of the tabs but it would be nice if the tabs would pick a position and stay there. At least then I would get used to it.

What's really strange is it changes every time I open Vegas. . . . . At least then I would get used to it.

@MikeTe : Erm, definitely not. I certainly don't recognize this as being a Core-Value of Vegas. Within the confines of the program we should be able to create the way we want to work, and not put-up with BUGs or ill-conceived even if, well-meant, programming. Especially as this isn't how VP had worked.

I turn off External Control and the warning red bars on the Track Headers vanish. I reopen VP and the Red Bars are back, even though the External Control in Options is switched OFF. To remove the Red Bars I need to SWITCH on External Control and switch it off. And to repeat, even AFTER reopening VP the darn bars are back.

And again, there are many many new innovative improvements to the GUI which I applaud. Maybe, just maybe, this is a GUI-BUG bug 🐛 invertebrate that unnoticed had slithered-in.

BTW, I'm liking my terminology: The "GUI-BUG" .

We do have this issue logged, but it has not moved up too high on our priority list. Obviously this is annoying a number of you, so I will see about bumping up the priority on this issue. I cannot promise when this will be fixed, but it is on our radar.

MikeTe wrote on 2/26/2018, 11:47 AM

Thanks MagixDerek. At least now I no this is going to get fixed. I have a similar problem in Adobe Bridge where it opens in the default workspace and I have to reset my custom workspace. They don't even want to talk about it.
