I downloaded and installed trial version of VMS10 Platinum on Windows XP SP3 and it crashes at launching.
"VegasMovieStudioPE100.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Error signature looks like this:
"AppName: vegasmoviestudiope100.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.179 ModName: msvcr90.dll
ModVer: 9.0.30729.4974 Offset: 0003740f"
I updated everything that was possible, re-installed VMS10, yet it was still crashing. Then I re-installed the OS from scratch, after 20-30 re-starts XP finally installed all updates - and it still crashes with the exact same error.
It has XP Service Pack 3
It has .NET Framework 1.1, 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2, 3.5 SP1, 4 Client Profile, 4 Extended, 4 Multi-Targeting Pack, etc, etc.
It has Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable, 3 different 2008 Redistributables, 2010 Express
It has the latest QuickTime
I also read their support pages, and added VMS to the exception list of DEP (Data Execution Prevention) - still crashes.
I simply can not believe that after working versions of VMS 6, 7, 8 and 9 - Windows XP has simply outlived itself.
Anybody is still using Windows XP these days, besides me? Is it possible to run VMS 10 PE on it?
