I tried out a pinnacle card for importing analog VHS tapes and be able to import/export them... This card looks like it will do it great.. But I would love to hear if somebody actually uses it!!!! Thanks....

(BTW...looked into camcorder/fire wire card and ma still do it but this seems to work best with vegas....????? True???)

Your post indicates that you also want to be able to export back to VHS? The ADVC-1394 will import analog and digital but will only export digital. If you want to transfer analog both ways get the Canopus ADVC-100. I have it and am very happpy with it. (As an added bonus you can use the ADVC-100 to connect to an external TV set for previewing your video during the edit)

Good one! That sounds more what I am looking for.... Works with Vegas great eh??? I definately want to be able to connect to an external TV set as well....

Big Thanks!!! So besides a fire wire conection, do you recommend anything else????? ****(Big time newbie question here)**** I see they have a DV Raptor card with the setup.....what will that help me do....????

I am used to working with audio so this stuff seems weird and complicated to me..

thanks for your patience.

Nope, you really don't need anything else besides a good firewire card and the Canopus ADVC-100. If you have a reasonably fast system you will probably be pleased with the performance without additional hardware enhancements.
