Does CDA 5 use MP3s??

I have the old version of CDA and I am thinking of upgrading. What I want to know is whether or not CDA 5 (new version) actually allows you to create and burn CDA projects/sets of music, using MP3s or still only .wav files (like the old version).

It looks like from the information on the new version that it provides an MP3 to .wav converter, but that gives me the impression that you still can only work with .wav files in the CDA project.

Due to the size of .wav files, they have eaten my hard drive. I am/was hoping that the new version would allow me to do build sets/create CDA projects the same way I do now, but doing it with MP3 files instead of .wav files. That way I could redo a lot of my collections as MP3s, get rid of the .wav files and get my hard drive space back.

Also, if it can do that in MP3s, does the Sound Forge part of it allow me to edit/clean up MP3s the way it does now with .wav files, i.e. cut off blank space at the beginning and end of a track, increase volume, clean up flaws, etc.

Thanks in advance for any help.

CDA 5 will allow you to use MP3's as sources but it will convert them to WAV before burning the CD. As far as Soundforge (or any editor) and MP3.... MP3 is a compression format. There is no way to clean/edit them without "uncompressing" them to a WAV file. I think there are a few freeware programs that will allow you trim the ends of an MP3 or split it into two or more files but that's about it.
