Does DVDA 6 support menus for stereo 3D?

I am confused by the help file on this matter. Adding to my confusion is that I have not used DVDA for anything, even though I've been upgrading since 4.5.

The help file says stereo 3D burning does not support "buttons on video". But it also says, "You can mix 2D and 3D media in a single project, but menus are displayed only in 2D." What confuses me is how a menu can function if 3D burning does not support buttons.

I have two stereo 3D shorts rendered with Vegas Pro in MVC stereo format that I want to put on one 3D Blu-ray disc, with a menu that will allow selection between the two.

Can this be done with version 6? Is it done following the same process for 2D menu creation? Is the menu title link exempt from the non-functionality of buttons for 3D files?

Sorry to be so stupid. I am easily confused by sketchy instructions that leave too much room for ambiguity. Can't find a tutorial that steps through this for multiple 3D titles on one disk. Maybe it can't be done, in which case, why bother with DVDA 6 when Vegas Pro can burn a single stereo 3D title already?

I don't work with 3D and most likely never will. So with a grain of salt let me suggest to you my interpretation.

The manual states that you are creating a 2d menu, buttons, text etc- no stereo view for it...but a link of a button on that 2d menu can let you play or view a 3d encoded video asset.

The value - unlike simple timeline burn of a single title asset - you can have multiple 2d and 3d coded assets on a single BD-R disc with links to view each appropriately. Talk about making me seasick! Arggh let me off the boat now.

I can see that I'm not the only one nauseated by ambiguity in poorly worded technical help. It doesn't give me any comfort though, I hope you are soon well again.

Your confusion is that you are misinterpreting the help file. When it says "stereo 3D burning does not support buttons on video" you are interpreting it to mean "stereo 3D burning does not support buttons at all".

But it is only the rather specialised feature of "buttons on video" that is unsupported in 3D - the more usual use of buttons (which might be called "buttons on menus") is still supported, just as with 2D material.

The restriction is that even with 3D material, any menus can only be 2D.

Thank you, Mark, that clears it up for me. My lack of experience with DVDA is what caused this misinterpretation. I did not appreciate the distinction between "buttons on video" and "buttons on menus" because the help file makes no such distinction. If I had been an experienced user, I would have understood implicitly.
