I just upgraded, or so I thought, from Video Wave 5.0 to VV3. However, much to my dismay, after loading the software yesterday and following the information in the Help section and the website, I am still with software that does not "see" my camera.

What the hell is up with this software???

Please post your system specs here. Also, when you fire up Video capture with the Camera connected, what driver do you see? If it is the MGI driver, you need to remove that and use the Microsoft DV driver.

as this is new, this is what i've been able to find:

video capture devices: Microsoft WDM Image Capture

video compression codecs: there are 25????

I hope that you do not find me frustrating. I certainly appreciate your interest in helping, but i've never had to "find" this info....

Do you have an OHCI compatible IEEE-1394DV card (aka Firewire card), and a 1394 cable? That is what you should be using with the DV910.

Yep. As mentioned earlier, I've used this camera, via a monster cable firewire, to make videos with Video Wave 3 and Video Wave 5. No problems..

The error I'm getting is:

The device Microsoft DV Camera and VCR could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and is not being used by another application or user.

I'm betting there's some conflict with Video Wave. Can you uninstall all MGI stuff and give it another try?
