Does Sony Vegas Pro 13 work with Windows 10?

I don't use Windows 10 enough to comment on the stability. The interface in Windows 10 is a mess. Classic Shell helps somewhat. I haven't found it snappier or faster to switch on than Windows 7. It requires more fiddling around to tame the settings and the forced updates are a menace. Mind you, updating Windows 7 is now a nightmare as well - if you want to avoid Windows 10.

Are you talking about an actual boot? If so, in my experience the difference is marginal. No-where near compensation enough for having to use Windows 10. I think I actual prefer Windows 8 to 10. I've tried hard to like 10 but the more I use it the more annoying it gets.

Yes - if you use Classic Shell and O&O ShutUp10 - but comparing Windows 7 and Windows 10 alone 10 has less user control and takes more work.

"... and the forced updates are a menace."

Windows 10 Pro does not have the forced updates which is one of the reasons why I went with it.

I cannot remember while typing this where to find it but there is a setting that turns off the fast start thing which will then cause Windows 10 to do a complete shut-down instead of what is similar to a hibernate mode.

Windows 10 would get flaky over time because it was not being fully shut down. I would do a restart which cleared the cobwebs and it would be good again. Now that I have turned off the fast start, it fully shuts down and no longer has any problems.

Microsoft sneaked in a variation of the hibernate mode (Fast Start) and pretended Windows 10 and even Windows 8 was a whole lot faster at start-up.

Now that I think more about it, I think the setting to turn off the fast start is in the power profile.

There are so many settings I cannot remember where they are at but I know it is there and it makes a big difference in stability because the system has a full shut-down instead of an artificial hibernate mode.

As I previously said, a clean install is much more reliable than an upgrade. Plus the full version of Windows 10 Pro is what one should be using on an NLE system to avoid forced updates and other problems and limitations.

I don't think we are talking about the same windows 10. I don't use Classic Shell. I use the windows 10 interface on 2 desktop computers. It is much faster than 7 from a cold boot. The interface is pretty much identical to 7 ( I turn the metro or whatever it is screen off and use the classic 7 UI). My computer that is still running 7 has a faster processor but is at least 10 times slower in booting. 10 is far more stable. I do lose some control over updates, but it has not caused any problems yet. I don't use MS Edge, I still use IE.

I did an upgrade from 7 to 10 so it might have inherited something from 7, but I think overall it is a better experience with 10. The only reason I keep a 7 computer is there are a couple of old programs that don't seem to work well on 10.

Because of finances I had to stay with Vegas 12 and it runs equally well on 7 and 10. I can network with 7 computers fine. I have not found a down side to 10 yet other than just the aggravation of the upgrade itself.

I am a big fan of Windows 7, but I use Windows 10 all day on my main computer for editing, surfing and everything else. And I would recommend it to anyone else.

Perhaps Windows 10 is better upgraded and on desktops. I have it on two tablets. One was upgraded from Windows 8.1 and that works better than the one bought with Windows 10 pre-installed (same model). I disagree about the interface. I think I have tried all permutations for the start menu and nothing with Windows 10 strikes me as better than Windows 7 but when you want to change settings Windows 10 is a hybrid horror. It takes more clicks to get anywhere and settings don't stick. I guess I could live with Windows 10 if it weren't for the update and privacy issues. I just see no compelling reason to switch until I have to.

Do a right click on the Windows start logo and you will find it all.

Thanks for the tip, I wasn't aware of it. But it's how many of the settings work that's the issue. For example, my pure Windows 10 tablet switches it's orientation to portrait mode if I log out or switch off. It ignores rotation lock settings. To get to the point where I can reset it takes many more clicks on Windows 10 than Windows 7 because of the new interface that stands between most of the real settings. It's as if they got half way through the job of redesigning the interface and gave up. Windows 7 is way more consistent. The only thing I have found with Windows 10 that is way better than Windows 7 is it's support for accounts with different user languages. But that's not enough of a draw to ever get me to switch until I have no choice.

I am not sure what you mean by that? There is not a single software that isn't working on my Windows 10 that isn't working after the upgrade from 7 including a very old MS Office 2003. Since it's the last version of Windows I see no reason not to upgrade especially when it's free.

I've had trouble with Flash on Windows 8 and 10 however t I wasn't talking about software but the actual Windows settings. I gave you an example.

If you refer to the rotation lock as an example, it is located in the notification center on the right side of your taskbar, takes two clicks. If it doesnt stick then you have a hardware or driver issue but not an OS issue.
