In preferences, I have chosen the option that "Double click on media loads into Trimmer instead of tracks"; however, when I click on the thumbnail of a piece of media in the Media Manager, the media loads to timeline rather than the Trimmer!
Of course there's not going to be anything in the help files about a bug :-)
I just tried this out on my laptop and the feature works as expected. Set the pref, doubleclick on the media, it opens in the trimmer. However, this is a new and barely used install of Vegas that I installed over xmas on this dual booting ubuntu laptop. The Windows partition (and Vegas) are hardly ever used.
I'm pretty sure I have had a problem with doubleclick opening media on the timeline when it ought to open in the trimmer. But not on this laptop.
I too have double click for Trimmer - but NOT from within Media Manager. Do you have this option from Media Manager, Rob? Do you? If so, please explain how you have this? I'd like to have this option too.
As can be read, the "Help" file I was referring to was the Media Manager help files.
Neat idea, Rob, but wouldn't it be kinda counter-productive if BUGs were listed in the HELP file? Better yet that BUGs were stamped out - no? But there again, Rob, maybe you were making another point about my posting, that was in itself, redundant? If so please spell it out for me - as you have totally lost me. The simple point I was making, is that Trimmer and Media Manager are not covered as being a linked item within the MM Help File. So, NOT having it linked is pretty worthwhile evidential knowledge to have that it just don't exsist. I wasn't even considering this as a bug? Do you think I was considering this as a bug listing? Why would I do that? I'd have to be daft to suggest such a thing? Please explain, Rob?
Is anybody getting Double-Click from Media Manager to Trimmer? Main Timeline, not a problem.
Well, I was misreading the initial post, and now you're misreading my response.
Of course bugs aren't documented in help files. You don't document them, you fix them (well, it's often two different teams but hopefully the doc team begs the dev team to fix it after spending a couple of days getting them to understand why the bug is an undesirable feature). I think I was engaging in sarcasm, but it wasn't particularly directed at you or anybody. Please don't take it personally, we're on the same page.
I missed that RDL was asking if the doubleclick setting loads things from the MM to the trimmer. I was thinking of the project media window. So I'm guilty of one of my pet peeves--not actually reading the post carefully. You would be much better equipped to answer the question than I am because you use the MM much more deeply than I do. (to the best of my memory, clips doubleclicked in MM don't open in the trimmer, but I suffer from CRS and Can't Remember Stuff ;-) )
<edit> As I understand it, the MM is actually a separate program so it doesn't surprise me that Vegas' prefs don't apply to it.</edit>
The thread caught my attention because I've had the vague feeling several times that double-clicking from the project media window wasn't loading into the trimmer as I thought it should.
