Double Clicking An Event

I'm using VMS Platinum 7 and am having trouble ascertaining the effect of double clicking an event - at least relative to making a selection.

For example, if I add text in the text track above an audio/video event (where the audio and video are grouped by default), it appears (given the blue shading) that I have in essence made a time selection for the duration of the event which would include the text. But if I then press delete, the audio/video is deleted, but not the text.

If I actually do make a time section by creating a region via mouse dragging in the marker bar above the ruler, and then press delete, the audio and video and text are ALL deleted.

So, what effect does double clicking an event really have?

Thanks!

On my settings, double clicking an event creates a loop region the size of the event.

Double clicking creates a loop region that is the size of the event, and also selects that event. This is why delete only deletes that event.

Thanks. That clears it up succinctly.
