Is there a way to export a project from Vegas Pro to the consumer Vegas Movie Studio by only exporting those aspects that will run in VMS? I have several projects done in Vegas Pro 7 that did not use high-end features and want to know if they could be leveraged in VMS.

You can go from VMS to Vegas Pro, but not the other way around.

What you can do is copy and paste between the two. Open up both Vegas Pro and Vegas Movie Studio at the same time. In Vegas Pro use Ctrl+A to select all and Ctrl+C to copy. Then switch to VMS and use Ctrl+V to paste. This will copy events, generated media (like titles) and things like even volume envelopes as well.

If by "lower versions of Vegas" you mean Movie Studio, the answer is no. Movie Studio doesn't support EDL.
